Adelanto The city’s promise to keep its stadium a hub of activity all year long will continue to ring true when the 5th Annual Abra Ca Dabs World Cannabis Conference comes to the High Desert.

Cannabis enthusiasts from across the nation are expected to attend the three-day festival with its goal to "Unify our community through music, art and concentrates."

The conference begins March 24 at Adelanto Stadium, the former home of the High Desert Mavericks and new home of the High Desert Yardbirds.

Former NFL players Kyle Turley and Ron Brown are part of a nearly two-dozen guest speaker panel who will share their expertise on the cannabis industry.

Other speakers include Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr, local veteran Jose Martinez, California Black Caucus Representative Darren Parker, Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Chairman Frank Montes and cannabis activist Dr. Dina.

"We’re excited to bring Abra Ca Dabs to Adelanto," event organizer John Mendoza told the Daily Press. "The High Desert is the perfect place for our conference and the City of Adelanto and the fairgrounds have done a great job to help us make this happen."

Mendoza emphasized the conference will include a heavy dose of "cannabis education," with a variety of speakers sharing their expertise on the medicinal benefits of cannabis, recent legislation, cultivation, business opportunities and more.

The festival is scheduled to open with a cannabis industry job fair on March 24 where dozens of cannabis companies will be on hand. The job fair is free and attendees must be 18 or older and have a valid ID. There is no specific dress code for the job fair, but business attire is strongly suggested and applicants should bring copies of their resume.

The event will also include a free on-field yoga class, social mixer and community luncheon. The musical lineup includes reggae band Hirie, Dilated People, mix-expert Derek Ali, rapper Jason Martin, DJ Carisma, DJ Baju, Arise Roots, Ital Vibes, True Press, The Alchemist and Turley, who has released several albums and launched his own record label.

Anyone is welcome to attend the conference, but visitors must be 18 years or older with a valid doctor’s recommendation to enter the Prop 215 medicating area.

Ticket costs for one-day and multiple-day admission range from $20 to $250. Tickets for the B2B Mixer and Charity Luncheon are $150 per person, and $1,500 for a Skybox Lounge.
