Moreno Valley has put in place an urgency ordinance banning non-medical marijuana sales in the city in case state voters approve Prop. 64 which legalizes recreational use.
The ordinance, approved by the City Council 4-0 Tuesday, Nov. 1, puts a ban in place for six months. Without it, recreational marijuana sales and other activity could take place the next day if Prop. 64 is approved Nov. 8, City Attorney Martin Koczanowicz said.
The six-month period allows the city time to study the issue and put in place any regulations if is approved, he said.
