Hanford With the possibility of Proposition 64 passing in November, the Hanford City Council agenda for its Tuesday meeting features several items that grapple with how to deal with recreational pot if California voters approve the proposition.
The council will vote on a proposed ordinance that would prohibit recreational marijuana cultivation in city limits, as well as ban marijuana delivery services and mobile medical marijuana dispensaries.
Store-front dispensaries are already prohibited.
But the item that’s likely to provoke the biggest discussion is how to respond to an Oakland-based business’s proposal to develop an indoor medical marijuana growing and processing plant in the industrial park south of Hanford.
The proposal would require the council to allow medical marijuana cultivation in areas zoned for heavy industrial.
