Atholville, N.B. – A proposed facility to grow medical marijuana in northern New Brunswick is getting $4 million in financial assistance from the provincial government.
The facility, under construction in Atholville, is expected to create up to 208 jobs, if it gets approval from Health Canada.
The plant, which will operate under the name Zenabis, has reached the pre-licence inspection phase.
If approved, the company would then have to grow a crop that meets all regulations before getting a licence from Health Canada to sell to the public.
According to Opportunities New Brunswick, the company is expected to contribute up to $15 million each year to the provincial economy.
