A series of town hall meetings will be held in Colorado Springs over the next few months to discuss medical marijuana presence in the state and its effect on local communities.

The six “Marijuana 101” meetings, scheduled to take place Aug. 17 through Oct. 15, will be hosted by the Cannabis Patient Rights Coalition. Medical marijuana patients and other residents are invited to learn more about how legal medical marijuana works in Colorado, express any concerns they have and talk about possible solutions, according to a news release from the coalition.

“The meetings are put together and organized by the Cannabis Patient Rights Coalition to help educate the general public about cannabis and it’s impacts in our city,” Aisha Sawyer, vice president of the organization, said in an email. “The class is organized and taught from a cannabis patient’s perspective and will include an open forum for citizens and neighbors to ask questions.”

The following upcoming meetings are scheduled for the Colorado Springs Area:

-7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 17 at the Cheyenne Mountain Library at 1785 S. 8th St. in Colorado Springs
